In this week’s wrapup, we talk about Disney's billion-dollar boardroom battle, reverse innovation, strategic petroleum reserves, Kerala's financial crisis and how a bird gave rise to a new fundamental right.

Meanwhile, here’s a recap of what we wrote over the week.

Disney’s billion-dollar Boardroom Battle

What is Reverse Innovation?

A few days ago, Wipro GE Healthcare announced that it would invest a whopping ₹8,000 crores in India over the next 5 years. And there's one thing in their statement that caught our eye — making “In India for the World”.

Now, this isn't entirely about yet another company using low cost Indian labour to make cost effective products. You could call it 'reverse innovation' instead. What's that?

Well, that's what we explained in Tuesday's newsletter.

Why is India leasing out its petroleum reserves?

India has had strategic petroleum reserves for over two decades. It's a stockpile of crude oil that the country maintains in case of emergencies. But in this year's Interim Budget, the government shoved a ₹5,000 crore plan to refill some of its vacant caverns.

So why does India want to avoid restocking its emergency petroleum reserves? We broke it down for you in Wednesday's newsletter.

Why is Kerala in a financial crisis?

In a first-of-its-kind case, Kerala took the Central Government to the Supreme Court. Its allegation?

Kerala is in the throes of a financial crisis and the Central Government is simply adding fuel to the fire.

So on Thursday we told you how the state ended up in a spot of bother and its complaints against the Central Government. Click here to read it.

How a bird expanded a fundamental right

The Great Indian Bustard is the state bird of Rajasthan. And recently it gave us a new fundamental right. Yup, the right against the adverse effects of climate change! But how did it do that?

We explained this in Friday's newsletter. You can read it here.
